just a random post to see what you people thought of the series Land Of Wealth. i know it might be old to some people. but in my opinion i thought it was a really good series. like i've seen a lot before and stuff... but this series really got me hooked on to the series. like i noticed the other actors' and actress in this series. and after watching it i'm a really big fan of moses chan in this series. to me it was a really good series. what do you guy's think?
I actually loved Land of Wealth! I rewatched it 2 times! I love Moses in it, though i've always loved Moses. Alot of people i've talked to didnt like it, but i loved it. I burned the series a while ago.
Review: I think the overall storyline was alright, and the Story behind Moses' family was good too, and having a Bank as its focus, is unique, yet is not really intriguing.
The casting was pretty good, with a good main cast, but the supporting cast wasn' too good, besides, John Chiang, Lui San, Rebecca Chan, Lau Dan, Chan Hung Lit etc.. I think it is good to have a strong Main Cast, as well as a good supporting cast.
The characters: Moses Chan- He was a good person, whose family was killed for something they didn't do.. he is quite a pityful character, but i think his character was not very likeable, because i think sometimes he makes wrong decisions, and keeps everything to himself, like when he broke up with Sonija Kwok, because he doesn;t want her to get involved.. I know that he means well, but i don't think that it is a good quality.
Sonija Kwok: I think her character at the Beginning was very enetertaining and likeable, with her free spirit and generosity. But she became very selfish when she married a man she didn't love, just to make Moses angry. I understand that she was upset at the moment, but that doesn't mean she can ruin the lives of 3 people (Moses, John and Herself). By the end, she was ok, and also, i didn't really like her character when she lost her memory...
Steven Ma: A Good person, would have been a good husband, but i think he is sometimes naive. Also, i didn't really catch his transition. Like at the beginning he was a playful guy and all, and all of a sudden he became all serious and calm.. Maybe it was after he became an Official, but i think it should have showed his transition slowly... I like the Playful Steven More.
Tavia Yeung: She was also a likeable character, who was also very entertaining, and like Steven, she can sometimes be naive as well. She only sees things from one perspective, and believes it, without questioning anything else. This is demonstrated through her break-up with Steven. But overal, she was a good daughter, a good wife, and could have been a good mother.
I'm kind of too lazy to go through the supporting characters, so just briefly: John Chiang: A Great Father, a great leader, and a good husband. One of my other favourite characters in this series. I think he was very nice to have let Sonija and Moses go, but they came back anyway..
Lui San: She's a good person, but trusts people (Her sister) too much.
Lau Dan and Rebecca Chan: I wouldn't say that they're evil. I just think that they're sly and manipulative. Unlikeable characters, who you might feel sorry for when they are in Jail, while their son becomes a monk.
Claire Yiu and Kenny Wong: Claire's character was alright. Was sometimes mean, but was an understanding wife. Kenny, very unlikeable. Hated his character. So hot-headed and so envious... Even when he turned good, i still didn't like him.
Chan Hung Lit: I didn't hate him much, even though he was the villain. Maybe because we only saw his evil side in the last few episodes. But i do hate him for causing Tavia's Death.
Performances/Acting: Overall all the performances were good.
Dislikes: -Erica Yuen, her acting and her character, as well as her chemistry with Steven. -Why wasn;t there something between Steven and Sonija??? To be honest, i saw some great chemistry between them at the beginning when they were friends....but it just stopped there, and they didn't even have any scenes anymore. -Kwok Fung's character, responsible for Moses' family's death. -The dragginess of the Series. Soemtimes it got very draggy. -I see no point in Chris Lai's character. I think it would have been better off if he died early in the series, like after he and his parents were kicked out of the Kiu Family. -Kenny Wong. To be honest, i don't think he has improved at all. -The Death scenes of John Chaing and Tavia Yeung were not able to make me cry, not even upset. I think it was the music that was played when they died. -Gregory Lee and the other guys who picked on Moses and Stephen Wong. -The Ending. Wasn;t satisfying for me. I think they should have ended it when Sonija was riding her horse away. That scene looks so much better than Moses and his son walking into the bank. -Also, the fact that it was 32 episodes.
Likes: I already mentioned my favourite characters.
-Themesong and sub theme song. -Sonija Kwok and Moses Chan, together. -The interaction between Tavia and Steven at the Beginning. -Sonija Kwok's name, so funny.
Favourite Scenes: -When Lui San dies. -When Tavia announces that she was gonna marry Moses. -Most of Episodes 2-9. -Musical scenes between Steven and Tavia. -When Kenny gets yelled at... Sorry, but i can't think of any more right now...
That's probably all i have to say. Final rating: 3.5/5.
hmm, i thought Kenny's character was quite annoying in this series, he does things before thinking. Anyways i didn't see any improvement in him either, at least he had his shirt on in this series. I also found that Sonija marrying John, like AM mentioned was very selfish and self centered of her to do. She married him out of a moment of anger.....i still don't get it. -i actually didn't really see any strong chemistry between Tavia and Steven, their scenes actually was kind of boring. -i liked the scene when Sonija was doing the ritual thing to marry John, where she had to walk around all these things and do all those stuff, and the wedding planner told her she had to cry and when she was crying, she was actually crying for real. I did like that scene and when she was throwing buns at Moses. Favorite Character- John Chiang and Moses Chan Least Favorite-Kenny Wong and Erica Yuan
I actually rate this series 4 to 4.5 out of 5. Recently there hasnt been any great series ive watched, so this was good for me. I can't wait until the big productions come out, like The Drive of Life, Heart of Greed, Jewel's Splendor etc.
i watched land of wealth A LOT of times!!! just because i really liked it. hehe. i overall really liked it. but i just didn't really like the ending when everyone was on the horse and stuff. i think they should of just stopped during the flash back moment don't you guy's think? by the way do you guy's know who singed at the ending? i thought it was really good. but in the movie i didn't really see tavia and steven had that much chemistry. i think tavia and moses had more chemistry exspecially when they got married. i thought it was kinda sad when tavia died at then end. but overall i still thought it was a good movie. i give it like a 5
I dont like this movie. Cuz at the end Tavia, she died. Also, Steven ended up with that one girl and seriously dont like that girl at all. But i liked the subtheme by Moses tho.
