No, Chilam's character's surname and Joe's character's surname is not the same. Gallen and Deric's surname is the surname Deric used throughout the series.
No, Kwong is not the name. What I mean by 'name' here is, for example, your (AM's) story, Family Affairs, Gigi's name is 'Tze Wai' and Charmaine's name is 'Tze Gwan'.
You got Chung Tin Chi correct, but that was Deric's name. For Gallen's name, go back to my hint - Chilam's and Joe's names. Since you got Tin Chi correct, I think you're able to figure out who (Chilam or Joe) had used that name too.
I'm still a little confused with your example (Tze Wai & Tze Gwan)... Anyway, I know Joe's name in Triumph In the Skies in Wun Chi? So is it Tin Chi and Wun Chi?

What I was trying to say about Tze Wai and Tze Gwan was that what I meant by saying 'name' is their name has two characters like Tze Wai and Tze Gwan (Yeung Kwong - the one you guessed has only one character 'Kwong'). I was also trying to give you a hint by saying Tze Wai and Tze Gwan because both of the names have 'Tze', so Gallen's and Deric's names both have 'Tin'.
